The landmark Joy Theater was one of the first movie theaters to be built in downtown New Orleans. The historic venue was closed in 2003 and reopened in 2011 as a place for live music, theatrical performances, and other special entertainment events. The Joy Theater is located on Canal Street, which is conveniently walking distance from the main areas of the French Quarter.
